Comenius University is the oldest and largest university in Slovakia. Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1919. The main task of the Faculty is undergraduate education of medical students There are two study branches at the Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava:
• General Medicine
• Dentistry
The whole curriculum could be studied in Slovak and also in English languages. The standard course of study lasts six years (12 semesters). Each academic year starts in September and lasts till the end of August. The academic year is divided into two semesters, winter and summer semester. After passing the state examination the graduate is conferred the degree MUDr. - Medicinae Universae Doctor (Doctor of General Medicine) or MDDr. – Medicinae Dentale Doctor (Doctor of Dental Medicine). The diploma is recognized in all EU countries. The graduates can continue their study and research in the postgraduate training leading to the award of PhD degree.
