Conditions for employment of foreign citizens in the Slovak republic
Foreign citizens have the right to access labor market in the Slovak republic and their legal position follows regulations according to their citizenship.
In general, if a foreigner wishes to be employed in the territory of the Slovak Republic he/she must apply first for a work permit and a temporary residence permit for the purpose of employment.
The Slovak Republic, as a member state of EU, enables access to its labour market to citizens of all EU member states without any restrictions. They and their family members shall have the same legal position in legal relations occurring as do citizens of the Slovak Republic.

Foreign nationals who comes from non member status of EU must apply for work permit prior to his/her arrival to the territory of the Slovak Republic to the Office in the territorial competence of which the foreigner is to perform the employment.
