Slovak-Hungarian Relationship
The relationship between Slovakia and Hungary is often headline news these days. What are the historical reasons for their uneasy relationship? What are the ongoing issues contributing to the ongoing tension? And what are the prospects for the relationship between the two countries in the future?
Ambassador (Ret.) Kálmán Petőcz, director of Development and International Relations for the Forum Minority Research Institute will address these and other questions at a current affairs forum (in English) on Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Roland Café, Hlavne Namestie 5. Arrive at 6:30 pm to order coffee and cake, a beer or a glass of wine from the restaurant, and then join the presentation and discussion on the lower level from 6:45 to 8:00 pm.
Before joining the Forum Minority Research Institute, Mr. Petőcz was Director General for the Slovak Government’s Department of European Affairs. From 1998 to 2005 he served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Prior to that, he was foreign relations officer and vice-chairman of the Hungarian Civic Party.
